Once again, Daylesford Abbey played host to a beautiful AbbeyFest.  This annual celebration of faith and family featured musical artists from around the country. Headline Matt West was joined by Riley Clemmons, Array of Hope, Village Lights, and Gus deSimone. Philadelphia's Archbishop Nelson Perez was the principal celebrant at Mass. Thousands of guests gathered at Daylesford Abbey in Paoli on a beautiful late-summer day.  In addition to the incredible music and Mass, AbbeyFest included Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.  Confessions were held outside, under the trees. On September 14th, we celebrated the feast of  the Exaltation  of the Holy Cross, also known as the Triumph of the Cross. We commemorate the finding of the True Cross by Saint Helena, the mother of Emperor Constantine, in the 4th century. Helena,  Helena, while traveling to Jerusalem, discovered the Cross on which Jesus Christ was crucified. The True Cross was then exalted or lifted up for veneration. We celebrated the feast of the Nativity of Mary on Friday, September 8. The New Testament does not provide details of Mary’s birth, but we know her parents were Anne and Joachim, devout Jews. Anne and Joachim longed for the birth of a child, just like so many people today who struggle with infertility. Anne and Joachim were gifted with a miraculous conception and birth. St. Francis of Assisi, a 13th-century Catholic saint, is widely recognized for his deep connection with nature and his teachings on caring for creation.  He is often referred to as the patron saint of animals and the environment. This Sunday, June 11th, we celebrate the feast of Corpus Christi, the Body and Blood of Christ. This celebration honors the Eucharist, where Jesus is truly present.  This feast had its origin in the 13th century by Pope Urban in 1264, to promote the belief in the real presence of Christ in the Eucharist.
