In the footsteps of Norbert of Xanten” Thomas Kunkel
Live Streamed on Sunday, November 15th @ 1:00 pm.
November 13th is the Feast of “All Saints of the Norbertine Order”. It is also the date in 1893 when the first Dutch Norbertines arrived in the US — a mission that gave birth in 1925 to the founding of Saint Norbert Abbey in DePere, outside of Green Bay. Again, on November 13th, 1963, the Eastern community became an independent Norbertine foundation — which in 1971 became Daylesford Abbey. In recognition of these “founding events”, for almost forty years, we have had a “Founders’ Day Lecture” on the weekend closest to November 13th. This year, we are delighted to have Thomas Kunkel as our speaker and, as we approach the 900th anniversary of the Order’s founding, we have asked him to speak on our founder, about whom he has written a fine book entitled “Man on Fire: the Life and Spirit of Norbert of Xanten”.
